They have a series of budget meetings scheduled this month, including a community-wide meeting on Wednesday, February 10th at 6pm:

It is very important that the people be heard on this.
This is a very progressive tax and will harm the middle and low class citizens of our city.
Please go to your council person and let him/her know what you think.
If food is the tax focus let it be liquor, soda and snack foods, not basic food stuffs.
This tax will also affect our local farm community!
On Friday February 5th, a group called Don't Tax Our Food filed the required paperwork to to refer back to the Phoenix City Council a food tax adopted by a majority of the council. A little know fact is that the ordinance does not limit the food tax to 2% as reported by the Arizona Republic. It can be raised at any time by the council.
