* VOLUNTEER ALERT *

Mike Renzulli just called me to report that there is a major celebration underway this afternoon, Sunday 2/14, at the China Cultural Center (about Washington and SR143). If you want to have some fun and gather signatures at the same time, grab your petitions and get out there.

Intro for Signature Gatherers

One of our members who has extensive experience in getting petition signatures has offered up a very short and simple introductory line to use when approaching a potential signer.

Hi my name is________ and I'm a volunteer collecting signatures to put the proposed "Food Tax" on the ballot in August so you the voter can decide.... Are you a registered Phoenix voter and is your information current???

***Make sure the signers live in Phoenix and are registered voters. Keep the speech tight and always thank the voter and if they're entusiastic, ask them to volunteer.

Grocery Stores in Phoenix

Kim Ruff has put together a list of grocery stores in Phoenix in order of zip code. As a matter of etiquette you should talk with the store manager first. However, in many if not most cases the stores don't own their parking lots, so you can work in the lots unless the security people who represent the landlord ask you to leave. That could be hours or days or never.
